Anna McMullen is a gentle and caring practitioner with a passion for Chinese medicine. She combines knowledge of Chinese medicine, an understanding of modern nutrition and western biomedical approaches with an empathy and intuition to provide a level of care that is truly wholistic.
Anna is registered Chinese Medicine practitioner and has been practicing since 2010. She was drawn to study Chinese medicine after seeing the emphasis it places on treating patients wholistically. Chinese medicine utilises the patient’s own energy, or Qi, to help return the body to a state of balance. The approach is gentle and supportive, and encourages a natural return to health.
Providing natural fertility treatments and IVF support are a passion of Anna’s. She has seen firsthand how effective Chinese medicine is in these areas and loves to share this information with her patients. When treating infertility, Anna provides an integrative approach by combining Chinese medicine, with its in depth understanding of women’s health; with the western biomedical approach.
Women’s health issue are a major area of interest for Anna. These include regulating menstrual cycles, helping alleviate symptoms that arise from hormonal imbalances and in treating gynaecological conditions such as endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome, menopausal syndrome and dysmenorrhea.
“Women’s bodies are amazing in the way the menstrual cycle and hormonal changes play out through the various stages of life. I find it fascinating the impact lifestyle and emotional health can have on these issues, and I love helping women work through these issues and achieve balance in their lives.”
Patient education is a big part of the Chinese medicine approach. Anna loves to help her patients understand what is going on in their bodies, as this knowledge is empowering and can help patients make huge transformations in their lives and in the way they take care of themselves.
A firm believer in the impact the emotions have on the physical being, Anna has a particular interest in the treatment of emotional disorders such as anxiety and depression. She loves to help her patients overcome these issues, and does so with sensitivity and empathy.
“The emotions and the physical being are intrinsically connected, so if there are physical ailments these will affect the emotional state of health, conversely emotional distress can very easily affect the physical being.”
The treatment of emotional disorders is particularly relevant when working with women’s health and fertility, as these issues can be so close to patient’s hearts. Anna works in a respectful and gentle way, ensuring her patients feel supported throughout their healing journey.
